Optical Coatings

Broadband Anti-reflective Coatings provide glare free transmission by reducing single surface reflection from 400nm -700 nm at 0° AOI offering a maximum single-surface reflection of <0.5%, average reflection of approximately 0.25%. The design can be optimized for glass indices 1.47 to 1.80 with wavelengths from 250nm to 2000nm.

The V-Coat series offers the best single wavelength performance of any AR coating. It can be applied and optimized for the same index range as the BBAR providing <0.25% reflection at the center wavelength
Optical Coatings

Super V-Coat series are ion beam sputtered coatings with extremely low scatter, as low as 10-3 to 10-4 at the center wavelength.

Single Layer MgF2 is broader than a V-Coat for use across wider wavelength bands or higher variations in the lights AOI. On BK7, it provides about 1.5% reflection at the center wavelength.

Ion Beam Sputtering provides the advantage of the highest packing densities of any deposition technique available, giving the thin-film coating exceptional adhesion, abrasion resistance and ruggedness.

Guernsey Coating Laboratories’ capabilities include Resistance Source Thermal Deposition, Electron Beam, Ion Assisted Electron Beam and Ion Beam Sputtering Deposition. Every coating we sell is designed to the highest standards, yours and ours. GCL is dedicated to working with you every step to ensure the coatings we apply meet all of your critical performance specifications. GCL is committed to providing the attention to detail you would expect from your own company’s in-house coating department.

Dielectric High Reflectors (referred to as laser mirrors,) with reflections of 99.0% and greater, and scatter as low as 50 ppm, are used when a very high amount of light is needed in reflection. The AOI and center wavelength can be optimized 0° to 70° between 193nm and 2500nm.

Protected Aluminum provides 88% average surface reflection in the visible. Sio2 overcoating creates higher resilience to abrasion than bare aluminum.

Enhanced Aluminum averages 94% reflection in the visible, incorporating a dielectric stack on aluminum and creating higher resistance to
abrasion than the raw metal.

Protected Silver averages 97% reflection in the visible wavelength range. It is optimized to provide increased environmental stability and maximum shelf life.

Beam splitter coatings split the incident energy, transmitting a portion and reflecting a portion. Metallic beamsplitters
offer good performance over a moderate spectral region. Dielectric beamsplitters offer minimal absorption with higher resistance to abrasion.

Neutral Density Filters, 400nm to 1200nm, provide a constant reduction in transmitted energy across a wide waveband to pass through the optic. This coating can be custom designed to fit most transmission requirements.
